Over the past week, Indonesia’s stock market witnessed a significant boost, adding Rp409 trillion ($22.7 billion) to its market value, largely propelled by impressive performances in the banking sector. The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) made a notable climb of 4.24%, closing at 6,175.5. As a result, the total market capitalization on the Indonesia Stock Exchange expanded to Rp10,749 trillion ($598.2 billion).
This upward momentum was primarily fueled by gains in shares of major banks, including Bank Mandiri, Bank Central Asia, and Bank Rakyat Indonesia, which emerged as key contributors to the benchmark index’s rise. In addition to these banking giants, other prominent companies such as Telkom Indonesia, Astra International, and Amman Mineral Internasional also played significant roles in driving the market’s overall advancement.
The week saw a marked increase in trading activity, with the average daily trading value surging by more than 36%. Among the individual stocks experiencing remarkable performance was Asia Sejahtera Mina (AGAR), whose shares soared over 138%, marking the strongest performance of the week. Following AGAR, notable gains were also recorded by Prodia Diagnostic Line, First Media, and Multipolar Technology, each contributing to the vibrant trading environment.
The substantial growth in market value and trading activity highlights the robust investor confidence in Indonesia’s stock market, particularly within the banking sector. The significant contributions from both established banking institutions and other major companies underscore a diverse and resilient market landscape, which continues to attract investor interest and bolster market performance.
