Nguyễn Minh Vũ, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia, recently spearheaded a delegation to the Cambodian provinces of Stung Treng and Kratie. The mission aimed to bolster collaboration between Vietnamese regions and northeastern Cambodia, as well as evaluate the activities of Vietnamese businesses and the living conditions of the community with Vietnamese roots.

During discussions with local authorities, both parties explored avenues for enhancing partnerships in sectors such as trade, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and investment. Cambodian officials emphasized the strengthening ties with Vietnamese provinces through various cooperation agreements, business engagements, and development initiatives. Kratie province, in particular, acknowledged the advancements in diplomatic and socio-economic collaborations, including Vietnam’s support for infrastructure projects and joint efforts in locating and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers lost during the Cambodian conflicts.

Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ commended the role of Vietnamese enterprises engaged in agriculture, mining, and rubber production within Cambodia. He noted that these ventures have significantly contributed to local economic development and have further solidified the bilateral relationship. In Stung Treng, officials highlighted the region’s promising potential for investment in high-tech agriculture and eco-tourism, urging more Vietnamese businesses to explore these prospects.

The ambassador also engaged with representatives of the Vietnamese-origin community to address legal and livelihood concerns, while advocating for adherence to local laws and support for educational and sustainable development initiatives. Vietnam’s investment footprint in Cambodia is considerable, with over 200 projects and a total registered capital of approximately $3 billion, positioning it as one of Cambodia’s largest foreign investors.
