As he embarks on a four-day state visit to Malaysia, Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam has underlined the significance of sustaining and enhancing the partnership between Singapore and Malaysia, even in the face of occasional disagreements. He noted that mutual respect and understanding have been the bedrock of their bilateral relationship for over six decades, allowing both nations to navigate challenges effectively.
President Tharman pointed out that Singapore and Malaysia have historically preferred to address sensitive issues through dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international law. Notably, the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and the RTS Link are examples of joint initiatives that reflect the deepening ties between the two nations.
