In a bid to tackle rising cross-border crime, police forces from Vietnam’s Tây Ninh Province and neighboring Cambodian provinces have committed to enhancing their cooperative efforts. This development comes amid ongoing concerns over security and public order along the shared border, which has seen various criminal activities in recent times.

During a recent conference held in Tây Ninh, representatives from Tây Ninh and Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tboung Khmum provinces reviewed their current partnership and strategized on strengthening their coordinated efforts. The meeting focused on preventing and combating crimes such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, smuggling, money laundering, and online fraud, which have been prevalent in the region.

Officials underscored the necessity of maintaining direct communication channels and holding regular meetings to ensure the swift exchange of information. This approach aims to facilitate the prompt handling of cross-border criminal cases and enhance the overall security landscape in the border areas.

As part of their renewed commitment, the police forces agreed to intensify border patrols and monitoring efforts. This initiative will help prevent illegal crossings, which often serve as conduits for organized transnational crime. Additionally, the forces plan to improve their collaboration in addressing other security threats, including terrorism, arms trafficking, and high-tech crimes.

The conference concluded with the signing of a cooperation memorandum, which formalizes the agreement to bolster their joint crime prevention efforts. This memorandum aims to maintain security and public order along the border, reflecting a shared commitment to tackling both traditional and emerging security challenges.
