Ukraine is set to formalize its role as a global leader in modern warfare by sharing its successful counter-drone tactics with international partners. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that his country, having developed effective methods to combat the drone swarms used by Russia, is now ready to export that knowledge.
“We will dispatch a consulting group to some countries regarding how to counteract such steps,” Zelensky stated, outlining a proactive plan to help other nations bolster their defenses. He added, “Some countries will send representatives to Ukraine to learn.” This initiative leverages Ukraine’s unique and extensive battlefield experience.
This move to become a defense consultant comes as Ukraine also positions itself as a technology supplier. Zelensky confirmed that talks are set to begin for the United States to purchase Ukrainian-made drones. This potential sale is a significant endorsement of the quality and effectiveness of Ukraine’s domestic defense industry.
Of course, Ukraine remains focused on its own urgent military needs. The country is simultaneously pursuing a new agreement with the US to acquire long-range weapons, a deal that was broadly agreed upon with President Donald Trump. A Ukrainian delegation will soon be in Washington to finalize the purchase, which will be in addition to a $90 billion aid package.
The strategy is comprehensive: improve domestic defenses, acquire advanced offensive weapons, and share tactical expertise. The recent delivery of a US-made Patriot air defense system from Israel, with more to come, strengthens the foundation upon which this ambitious, multi-faceted national security strategy is being built.
