Indonesia Conditions Electricity Exports to Singapore on Fair Pricing Agreement

by admin477351

Indonesia is prepared to engage in electricity exports to neighboring countries, including Singapore, contingent upon buyers agreeing to the pricing terms set by the Indonesian government. This was articulated by Bahlil Lahadalia, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Energy Downstreaming and Transition, who emphasized that the nation’s domestic electricity needs would remain the government’s foremost concern.

Lahadalia clarified that any potential electricity exports would be contingent upon securing prices that reflect fair commercial value and safeguard Indonesia’s national interests. The government has already established baseline prices for exports, and Lahadalia advised the Danantara Investment Management Agency to resist any external pressure to lower these rates.

The discussions surrounding the export of green electricity to Singapore are part of a larger regional initiative aimed at fostering cooperation in clean energy. However, Indonesia has been explicit in its stance that any agreement must prioritize fair pricing while ensuring that domestic electricity supply remains adequate.
